Lovely headband! Sorry don't understand pattern. Row 1 you say CH20 then DC [is that in the first stitch from hook?] then to CH2 then single crochet 4th ch from hook? Then in Row2 you say CH2 turn then DC, is that in the stitch at the base of the CH2? Kind regards

Flower Girl Cotttage said...

Jan, the first DC, CH2 & SC are all worked into the 4th Chain from Hook.

Row 2, Ch2 turn DC into 1st CH Space then into same chain space ch 2 and single crochet, then continue onto the next chain 2 space with 2 dc, chain 2 , single crochet. it is sort of like a cluster into each subsequent chain space. hope that helps : )

Ahh I see now, silly me! Thank you! Kind regards

Is there a pattern for that sweet flower too? Thank you so much!

Lovely headband just finished mine. Mine came out not as wide as yours because I used Vanna's Glamour double up. Next one will try with cotton.
I would like to know how to make the pretty flower please. I can't wait to wear my new headband. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern with us.

Just finished making one of these adorable headbands. LOVE the texture and how the edges have a bit of a scalloped look to them.

The girls in our family are going to be looking pretty cute this winter! :-)

Thank you so very much for this awesome pattern!

On row 1 it says to repeat and then skip the last three to the end. Do you sc in the last stitch? Or dc or what do you do after you skip the last three.

Flower Girl Cotttage said...

Sara, the row ends with a cluster 2 double crochets, chain 2, single crochet in the last chain stitch, then before you turn for row 2chain 2 and turn begin second row directions, I hope that helps, I try my best with directions I am not a "pro" pattern writer : )

I keep ending up with 2or 3(i forget offhand) ch left at the ends of row 1. I have redone this many times with the same result. What do I do with those ch??

Unknown said...

I like the headband, but there's no instructions for the flower, I like that flower.

Anonymous said...

Love it. It turned out so beautiful. Thank you. Did you ever post the pattern for the flower and if so, can you share the link to that page?

Unknown said...

Started this today, looks like its going fast & easy, who don't like that. Making headbands for granddaughter with red heart blacklight yarn. Thinking it would also be a fast afghan.

Anonymous said...

How do I get the flower pattern?

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the pattern. Are there instructions for the flower?

I absolutely love this pattern! It's gorgeous and so easy. I just wanted to check sizes though. I worked out that 18" would be about 45cm but mine seemed longer than what is shown in your pics. Also, would you use the same size for all ages?

Unknown said...

Hello, I'm on my third attempt at your lovely headband. Reading the above comments don't seem to have helped either so I'm sorry if I'm replication questions. To start row two is the first chain to work into the first next to hook. Also are the clusters worked into the every second stitch or skip two stitches and cluster worked into every third stitch thank you. Really want to make this

Anonymous said...

Very pretty, great pattern easy to make, but still no pattern for the flower????

Anonymous said...

Make sure that you are skipping 3 chains not doing the cluster in the 3rd one! Does that make since?

Anonymous said...

Make sure you are skipping 3 chains not doing the cluster in the 3rd chain! Does that make sense?

Finally worked out what I was doing wrong. Still learning how to read patterns. Below is the link I found for the flower

What does Skip 3 across to the end Mean????

Anonymous said...

Ive followed many patterns but cant figure yours out. Takes too long to figure it out than its worth. I dont seem to be the only one

Very poorly written pattern. I will just find something more user friendly...thanks anyway..

Edited due to a mistake I found- Hope this helps.

Flower Girl Cottage you did an amazing job. I completely understand about not being a professional pattern writer. That is okay. This project is so worth trying to figure out. I retyped what you were trying to convey and if this helps please use it.

Row 1: Chain 20, (dc, chain 2, sc) in 4th chain from the hook, skip 3 chains, 2 dc in next sc, chain 2, sc in the next sc: repeat 3 more times; (last one) skip 3 chains, (2dc, chain 2, sc) in the last stitch.
Row 2: Chain 2, (dc, chain 2, sc) in the chain 2 space, *(2dc, chain 2, sc) into chain 2 sp*(repeat from* to * 4 times) for 5 total cluster stitches.

Hi, I love the pattern but am curious about the choice of yarn. My main concern is that the headband will not be stretchy and cotton yarn to me does not seem stretchy. Please advise

Debby said...

My daughter has been wanting me to make her a head wrap since last winter she got tired of waiting and paid 25 dollars for an alpaca wool one that is about an inch and a half wide with a silly looking flower on it and is so itchy she can't stand to wear it! I just finished this pattern with Carons Simply Soft and I used a crochet Rose and she is so happy with it! Thank you for sharing this wonderful pattern! I finally have peace again! And a beautiful daughter! Lol

Unknown said...

I keep ending with a extra chain on row one?

Flower Girl Cotttage said...

Hi Everyone Thank You for taking time to comment on this headband pattern, Remember I am not a professional pattern writer and I use cotton yarn because I like it, true it does not stretch like other types of yarn but it works fine for me and it doesn't itch which is a bugaboo for my picky girls. I hope anyone that wants to give the headband a try like the finished work. Happy Holidays !

Unknown said...

What is the name of that stitch? I was wondering how to decrease with it. I love this headband! I understood and got it right the first time! I wanted to make a tapered headband with a button using that stitch.

Anonymous said...

Love the headband, just learning to crochet and this is my second project. Thanks for the pattern and directions.

Loved this pattern. Just finished my first one today and it turned out great. I have made a lot of headbands but this one is the prettiest. Easy to read pattern and works up really fast. Thank you, so much

OMG! I just couldn't get the 2nd row right! I must have taken it apart 4 times!!! I gave it one more shot and re-read the directions, as well as all the post others wrote. I FINALLY got it!!!!! I want so bad to finish it now but it's 1:30 in the morning and I need to be up at 6:30am...don't think that's a good idea! Thank you for such a beautiful pattern. Will definitely be making more, in different colors. Good night! :)

I was going to take the time to figure this out and looked in the comments for hints... So glad I did! Thanks for posting! I think on row 1 it is "... Ch 2, sc in same stitch", rather than next stitch. That's how it worked out correctly for me, anyway :) thanks again! Such a cute ear warmer it'd be worth puzzling out :)

This is the exact same pattern that I used to make my dish rags. Same size hook, same yarn, and everything! The only difference is you chain 40 instead of 20 when making the dish rag.

I know it has been years but I did this pattern ( just finished it) and had the same problem. I was doing the DC's in one chain and sc in the stitch/chain right next to it because that's how I read the pattern. But you are supposed to do all of it in the same stitch, then skip 3 and do all of it in that one( 4th stitch from hook) over and over. Before you turn you chain 2 for the height( counts as a DC as well) and only do one actual dc in that first chain 2 space. I hope if you ever across this again this helps.
Ch20
Row1:, dc ch2 sc in 4th ch from hook,*sk3, 2dc ch2 sc* repeat from *to* to end of row, ch2 turn

Row2: in first ch2sp;1dc ch2 sc,*in next ch2sp;2dc ch2 sc* repeat from *to* until end of row ch2 turn
Repeat row 2 until specified size

If this don't help, it ain't the pattern that has the issue (but I agree it was confusing)

Great pattern. Made many for charity. Instead of stitching together, omit flower, add two buttons and use ch. 2 space as button-hole
to make headband adjustable. Thanks for well written pattern. Jo-

I know this is a very old post, but I just found you through Oombawka Crochet's review of this headband. I had no problems whatsoever understanding the pattern. It was a quick project and so cute. The pattern is written clearly in my opinion. I don't understand why so many people feel the need to criticize a free offering. I was taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. I guess some people weren't raised with that respect of others. I thank you for the pattern and look forward to making many more.

What is the best way to attach the flower to the headband? I have a hot glue gun but I’m worried I’ll damage the yarn.
