Stitch Explanation
Hdc fan stitch = 2 hdc, chain1, 2 hdc all into one stitch
Term
hdc = Half Double Crochet
Chain
Slip Stitch
Pattern:
Chain 15
Into 6th chain from hook hdc, hdc, chain 1, hdc, hdc all in one stitch, skip 3, repeat hdc fan stitch in next stitch after skip three, skip 3 work 1 hdc into last chain stitch. chain 2 (the chain 2 creates a space)
Turn
Work hdc fan into previous hdc fan chain 1 space, repeat into next chain 1 space of 2nd fan, hdc into last chain 2 space, chain 2
Turn
(Repeat hdc fan stitch into chain 1 space of each hdc, end with hdc into last chain 2 space, chain 2
Turn )
Repeat above between ( ) until band measure 18.5”, end with hdc into last space, do not chain 2, fasten off
Fold band in half, join together with whip stitch or crochet, slip stitching ends together to form a flat seam.
The band should measure about 4” wide x 18.5 round, depending on the type of yarn there should be just enough stretch for average Adult/Tween
Note: The pictured band is on a newborn and is modified down to 12”
Crocheting the hdc fans into one another’s chain 1 spaces forms a band of little hearts
